Having performed in festivals and clubs as far away as Europe in addition to her numerous engagements throughout North America, Johanna can consider being on stage her second home.
Originally from Boras, Sweden, she carries with her a strong, sultry voice. Johanna has been making her mark on the music industry for many years.
An alumni of both the Grant MacEwan music program in Edmonton, Alberta, as well as the vocal jazz workshop at the Banff School of fine arts, in Banff, Alberta, Johanna has been able to study music with such jazz legends as Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton.
Since finishing her studies, she has been freelancing with Jazz and R&B acts throughout Canada. An experienced studio session singer with many of projects in her repertoire.
Johanna has maintained her autonomy by continually pursuing her own solo career, and has been able to collaborate writing music in many different genres. Her most recent songwriting partnership with guitarist Aaron Young resulted in the project Sillan & Young and the release of their debut album ?Better Thing?.
Johanna has gained the respect of not only her peers, but those in the music community. This is attributed to her strong work ethic and proven longevity in the local music scene. Her support for the arts has been continuously bold and passionate. In reflecting her passion to others, Johanna?s education and experience allows her to support those aspiring singers through vocal coaching.
This allows others to gain her knowledge and experience with the possibility of bridging to a professional level.
