Genevieve HunterKids Music Program Instructor, Piano Instructor, Vocals Instructor
Genevieve Hunter is a local music teacher, accompanist, and pre-school music curriculum specialist. She worked up to her A.R.C.T. in piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music and studied voice to a grade ten level. She studied theory and composition at Mount Royal Conservatory and has been teaching piano and voice for twenty-five years. She is a mom to five children and has developed an effective method of teaching music to children as young as three years old.
Her program is called “Music Mom’s Color Method” ™ and applies the colors of the rainbow to the notes on the musical staff (ie. C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C). This method is simple and has proven to be engaging to children of all ages. Bright colors and patterns are used to introduce notes and rhythm. In this modern age of YouTube and video games, children need the added visual stimulus to make music exciting and fun. Her goal is to help children develop an enthusiasm for learning music. Genevieve’s “Music Mom” programs provide a positive introduction to the wonderful world of making music.
